Interface and Control

  • Main circuit terminals include AC input, DC input, motor output and grounding terminals according to the model power class.
  • DI1 and DI2 are well water-level detection signal inputs. If only one well signal is used, DI1 and DI2 should be connected together.
  • DI3 and DI4 are reservoir water-level detection signal inputs. If only one reservoir signal is used, DI3 and DI4 should be connected together.
  • COM is the input common terminal for water-level detection signals.
  • Run, stop/reset, enter, programming and shift keys support basic commissioning and operation.

Application Scenarios

  • Solar photovoltaic water pumping.
  • Agricultural irrigation.
  • Reservoir and well water supply.
  • Remote pumping systems using PV array power with optional AC debugging or backup power.

Installation and Use Notes

  • The pump must not dry-run without water or liquid medium.
  • Before starting, ensure the pump is filled with water or other liquid.
  • Wiring must be performed by qualified electrical personnel after the power is off.
  • If there is no protection diode at the input bus, do not close the PV array switch and power grid switch at the same time.
  • When switching power source mode, follow the manual’s power-on sequence and wait for controller discharge where required.

FAQs

What is WLD280 for? ▶
WLD280 is a solar pump controller that directly drives a suitable three-phase pump from solar power. It is for water-pumping systems planned around available sunlight and the pump’s work.
Does WLD280 need batteries? ▶
No. Normal solar pumping with WLD280 does not require batteries. Store water in a tank for later use when that fits the system’s needs.
Will the pump run on a cloudy day? ▶
It can run when available solar power is sufficient, but pump flow changes with sunlight. In weak light, the controller can enter sleep and resume as conditions improve.
Can WLD280 pump water at night from solar power? ▶
Solar power alone cannot drive the pump at night. Plan water storage for night-time use, or use a properly designed alternative power source.
Can WLD280 switch to grid power automatically? ▶
Automatic changeover requires the optional WLD280-PV/ACX changeover box. It does not happen with the controller alone. Confirm the complete design and matching equipment before installation.
How many solar panels do I need? ▶
There is no single panel count for every installation. Select the array from the pump requirements and the controller’s permitted input range, using the panel data and local solar conditions.
Can the system stop when a tank is full? ▶
Yes. Water-level control can stop the pump when a tank is full if the needed sensor or switch is installed and set up correctly.
Does WLD280 protect against dry running? ▶
Yes. Dry running means a pump runs without enough water. WLD280 provides dry-running protection when the needed water-level sensing arrangement is installed and set up.
Why is the pump not delivering water? ▶
Check the available sunlight, water source, pump and pipework condition, and any displayed fault. Do not keep restarting without diagnosis; have the installation checked if the cause is unclear.
What maintenance does a solar pumping system need? ▶
Keep the solar panels, pump, water source, and pipework in good condition, and inspect them if performance changes. Have trained personnel handle electrical or controller work.
